Waerenskjold has overtaken Dutch Olav Kooij and Belgian Jasper Philpsen in the fastest stagein the history of the Tour with an average speed of 50 kilometres per hour.
The 26-year-old Norwegian has won the 19th professional victory of his career and has premiered his champion on the Tour, taking advantage of close surveillance among the main teams of the sprinters.
While the top favourites were fighting for the best position in the last few meters, Wærenskjold has found the perfect gap from the right, stuck to the fences, to put Decathlon on the wheel of a CMA CGM Team pitcher, even without his leader Olav Kooij on the wheel, which is why the Decathlon cyclist has begun to lift his foot and look back.
