Le Court-Pienaar steals victory from a group of fugitives at Tournonsur-Rhon, and Reusser is still dressed in yellow

The French cyclist Kim Le Court-Pienaar (AG Insurance) won the sixth stage ofthe Tour de France, between Montbrison and Tournon-sur-Rhone  (153 kilometers). Mauritius beat seven other runners in the sprint. Marlen Reusser remains the leader after resisting theattacks of Demi Vollering .

Three riders have been leading the race for part of the stage, the Dutch Loes Adegeest (Lidl-Trek), the Norwegian Katreen Aalerud (Uno-X) and the Czech Nikola Noskova (Cofidis). However, the platoon has set to work and these three runaway riders have never had much advantage, so Noskova has been hit for 67 kilometres.

In the fifth climb of the day, the adventure of the Col de Laulovesc (2nd category) , Adeggest and Aalerud, 54 km from the finish line, has also ended.

Subsequently, after several attempts at attack, another team was formed at the head of the race, with six runners: the Canadian Sarah Van Dam (Visma), the French Celia Gery (FDJ), the Breton Cedrine Kerbaol (EF), the Italian ElisaLongo Broghini (UAE), the German Liane Lippert (Movistar) and the Dutch Puck Pieterse (Fenix), the mountain leader.

At the foot of the last port of the day, the Cote de Bocieu-le-Roi (3rd category) , just half a minute apart from the small platoon, the six fugitives have surpassed the short ascent of nearly four kilometres at the head of the race. In the descent, 14 kilometres away, the Dutch Riejanne Markus (Lidl-Trek) and Kim Le Court-Pienaar (AG Insurance), champion of the Mauritius Islands, have left the rear group to capture the previous six.

In the platoon, Vollering started the pace, but failed to release the Reusser . In the previous group, Le Court-Pienaar first, and shortly afterwards, Markus, twice, attacked, trying to stand alone on the finish line, but failed to do so.
