Mikel Landa revives landism in Sheriff's Port

Mikel Landahas again demonstrated his level in a tough mountain stage. Soudal Quick-Step 's Alavés cyclist won the 20th and penultimate stage of the 2026 Return to Spain on Saturday, the queen stage of this edition, with a 186.8 km journey between Calahorra and Collado del Alguacil.

As the miles have progressed, the overall battle has intensified. Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) has again tried to cut distances on the slopes of El Purche and keep alive his chances of getting on the podium.  Decathlonhas defended Felix Gall's third place, and Sepp Kuss (Visma-Lease a Bike) has tried to move the race cEnma-Mas and Primoz Roglic.

So Mikel LandaK has captured the survivors of the escape, and as he has traveled miles, he has become the strongest man of the escape .

In the last 50 kilometers, with the port of El Duque on the horizon, Landa attacked du. TheBelgian Ramses Debruyne  (Alpecin-Premier Tech) has helped him for part of the offensive , but the Alavés has continued to tighten his pace.

Inthe final climb to the Collado del Alguacil , Landa has launched the final attack andTobias Johannessen  has not been able to keep his wheel. Mikel Landa has crossed the finish line in the first place alone, thus winning the 20th stage of the 2026 Lap. It has been a great victory for the Alavés and has again proved to be a high level cyclist in the hard mountain stages.

Enric Mas (Movistar Team) , for his part, has had to defend his leadership on this tough day.
