Eddie Dunbar takes over at Peñas Blancas, and Enric Mas easily endures his rivals
The Irish cyclist has crossed the finish line alone after beating Santiago Buitrago by 500 meters to finish, Primoz Roglic has tried to get Enric Mas out of the way, but the leader has resisted all offensive attempts and has the Lap within reach.
The Irish Eddie Dunbar (Pinarello-Q36.5) won the 19th stage of the Return to Spain between Malaga and the port of Peñas Blancas (210.8 km).
The Colombian Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain Victorious) attacked within two kilometres of the finish line, but Dunbar, who was behind him, caught him within 500 metresof the end, and without thinking twice, advanced, without giving the owner of the mountain jersey a chance to follow his wheel.
Thus, the Irish cyclist has crossed the finish line alone, and Buitrago has had to settle for second place, while Navarro Urko Berrade (Kern Pharma) has been fourth, with a good race, behind British Thomas Gloag (Pinarello-Q36.5).
As for the favourite group, allthe roosters have crossed the finish line at once, five minutes late, which has meant that there has been no change in the overall ranking, despite the aggressiveness of Primoz Roglic and Richard Carapaz .
