Dane Jonas Vingegaard has numerous collarbone and abrasion injuries following his fall in the 15th stage, second stage of the general, according to his team. "Given the severity of the fracture, a surgical operation has been recommended that will take place in the next few days," the Visma team said.

The Danish cyclist fell at the exit of a roundabout about about 20 kilometers from the finish line at Plateau de Solaison, when his team was setting the pace of the platoon. The 29-year-old Dane went to the ground and took other cyclists ahead.

Vingegaard, who has reached the Tour after winning the Giro de Italia, was second in the overall ranking, 4.30 from the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.
