Vernon beat Goddon in the sprint, but the Frenchman strengthened his leadership in the Volta
The organizers have cancelled the last climb to the Vallter 2000 ski resort, and cyclists have completed the fourth stage between Mataró and Camprodon (151 kilometers).

Cyclist Ethan Vernon (NSN Cycling Team) won the fourth stage of the Volta to Catalonia on Thursday between Mataró and Camprodon , 151 kilometers, imposing sprint on general leader Dorian Godón (INEOS Grenadiers) .
On Wednesday evening, the organizers canceled the last climb to the Vallter 2000 ski resort because strong wind and intense cold were expected at the summit. The stage has finally been played, but it has ended in Camprodon. Vernon, who was second in the third stage of Vila-seca, has won an unexpected prize because if Valter had gone up he would not have had a chance.
Vallter's failure to ascend to 2000 has prevented a greater spectacle, as the faborietes' attacks were expected in today's stage, which has come to nothing in the fight for the general. But Goddon has again been rewarded, as has Thomas Pidcock (Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team), third in the stage and second in the general, 13 seconds from the French leader.
In Camprodon, after climbing a small slope in the last mile, the platoon has lost few cyclists and entered almost all of the last few meters.
From the last roundabout, about 180 yards from the finish line, the French cyclist has been on the verge of reaching the third stage in this edition of the Catalan race.
Previously, the platoon has captured the day's escape 18.3 km from the finish line, consisting of Samuel Fernandez (Euskaltel-Euskadi) and Merhawi Kudus (Burgos Burpellet BH) .
