RGAcyclist Caja Rural-Seguros Jaume Guardeñoremains admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Taulí Hospitalin Sabadell in critical condition as a result of the serious accident he suffered during his training on 31 March, according to his team this Tuesday.
The 23-year-old Alicantine cyclist was seriously injured when he lost control of his bike as a result of stepping on a stone during a training session. The loss of control caused him to get into the opposite cruiser and collide with a car, causing a powerful impact, especially on his head, which caused severe head injury .
After the accident, Guardeño was taken in an emergency helicopter to the Catalan hospital, wherehe was operated on and has been in medical care since then. According to the latest announcement published by his team, the cyclist remainsina "critical" but "stable"state of gravity, monitored continuously by the medical team.
The next few days will be decisive in their development, as they are expected to be placed under new partnerships, with the aim of favouring their recovery.
