The Royal Society is the King's Cup champion of the 2025-2026 season! The White Blue Team has won the title at the Cartuja stadium inSeville on Saturday night. The White Blue Team, in the grand final of the tournament, has defeated Atlético de Madrid, in penalty launches, ending the extension by 2-2, so it has won the King's Cup for the fourth time.
Rino Matarazzo placed Unai Marrero in the 11th, Luka Sucic in the front of the center of the field, Jon Gorrotxategi on the bench and, although there was some doubt, Guedes in the attack.
With the 15th second of the match still unfulfilled, Gonçalo Guedes picked it up on the left, focused on the penalty point, and Barrena, head, sent it to the nets. It was perhaps the earliest goal in the history of the Cup Finals; the stand, the most amateur of the Royal Society, exploded even more.
With the Real ahead, the Atlético de Madrid took the ball, but despite that, the Real Sociedad remained very firm. Barrena, in the 17th minute, shot well from outside the area and Musso, the goalkeeper of the Atlético de Madrid, cleared well the shot of the Guipuzcoan footballer.
Then Lookman equalled the final with a good Atletico Madrid attack play. The forward shot was very crossed to the left of Marrero. The azpeitiarra couldn't do anything to avoid 1-1.
The Royal did not back down and Guedes had the second goal close in a shot that crashed into the side net; Carlos Soler also had a good opportunity to score in the 25th minute, in a auction that went to corner.
The final was going very fast, it had a lot of rhythm, both teams wanted to win the Cup. The referee showed the yellow card to Mikel Oyarzabal, who also saw Le Normand. In an offensive move, Oyarzabal gave it to Guedes and the left-handed Portuguese came out from above, deflected.
With very little left for rest, the Royal has put a foul in the Atlético de Madrid area, Musso has gone wrong and hit Guedes, and the referee Alberola has pointed out penalty, it has been very clear. Mikel Oyarzabal, as master as ever, has shot very well and has put the Blue White team back ahead.
Guedes, from the Royal Society, and Griezmann, from the Atlético de Madrid, have given the first warnings of the second half. The Atlético de Madrid has taken the ball in that part of the game, but the Real was doing well in the back without too much trouble; Lookman, in the 60th minute, has finished high, from within the area, in a dangerous play.
Matarazzo put Gorrotxa and Pablo Marín in the field instead of Turrientes and Barrena. The Atlético de Madrid was pressing, but the Real Sociedad, with Marrero very sure, was still very solid, with twenty minutes left to finish.
In the 83rd minute, with a big shot from the edge of the area, in a long play, Julian Alvarez scored the 2-2. The Argentinian scored a meritorious goal by putting the ball at the angle. Alex Baena, after a quick counter-attack by Atlético de Madrid, had a very good chance of goal before Take Kubo went out on the lawn.
At the end of the 90 minute, Cardoso shot out very little, with a good exit from Marrero. In the regulated time, the last move was a very dangerous foul in favor of Atlético de Madrid, but the Royal responded well and the final entered the extension.
Atlético de Madrid has been superior to the Real Sociedad in the last few minutes, but the Blue White team has come out strong in the discount. Orri Oskarsson, alone in front of Musso, has not been able to score on a very clear occasion; Julian Alvarez has then shot at the stick.
There was a lot of tension in Cartuja in the second half of the extension and both teams were very tired, so it was in the penalty launches that the champion was decided.
