The Euroleague has agreed on a new model of economic distribution and will continue with 20 teams

Theboard of directors of "Euroleague Commercial Assets" (ECA) on Tuesday authorized "a historic evolution"of the Euroleague economic distribution model, which represents the first major conversation in more than two decades, and will maintain a 20-team league format for the 2026-2027 season.
According to the ECA itself, the revised model includes two distribution funds, the one related to the broadcast and the commercial of the league. In the first, "licensed teams will have 65% of the net income from the broadcast on their respective markets. The remaining 35% willbe distributed in a balanced manner to all licensed groups. "
In the second, the total distribution fund, excluding the broadcasting fund, "75% will be distributedamong all participating teams , depending on sports performance, the involvement of fans (including attendance, television viewers and digital interactions) and a combination of historical results. The remaining 25% will be distributed in a balanced manner amongall licensed groups . "
Thus, 'to maintaina league format of twenty teams , all in opposing format for the 2026-2027 Euroleague season, at the same time, a strategic intention to review the increase in the number of teams in the near future ', has been confirmed at the meeting.
