The Basque Country joins the World Council of Sheep Cutters and Wool
The Euskal Herria team is currently participating in the Golden Shears and Woolhandling World Championship, which is being held in Masterton,New Zealand, at one of the most prestigious events in the sector, where they are competing with some of the best professionals in the world in a context of high technical and competitive demand, which is an "incredible" experience for the Basque delegation.
The team has experienced a very important moment in the tournament: the Basque Countryhas been officially appointed as a new member of the World Council. This recognition of the institutions is an important step towards strengthening its international presence and opens the door to future participation in this type of competition. The experience is being "unforgettable" and the members of the selection have pointed out that "it is a tremendous level, demand, atmosphere, relationship, rivalry and training.
The members of the group have also wanted to highlight the collective nature of the achievement achieved. "This achievement is not unique to those of us in New Zealand. It belongs to all the fellow travellers who believe in this project. Of all the cutters and woollers who exist in the Basque Country, of all the institutions, companies and people who support us in one way or another, of the entire primary sector that keeps tradition alive and continues to work discreetly but professionally.
