MotoGPwill host the first urban race in history in 2027, in Adelaide, where it will compete for the Australian Grand Prix from next year, replacing Phillip Island , an agreement that lasts six years, that is, until 2032, including that year.
Phillip Island thus leaves the World Cup after hosting 30 Australian Grand Prix events, which will now take place in Adelaide for the first time in three days in November 2027; the circuit will be 4,194 kilometres long with 18 curves, allowing pilots to reach speeds of more than 340 km/h .
According to the organizers, the route design follows the model of the famous Adelaide urban circuit that hosted Formula 1 events between 1985 and 1995, with significant adjustments necessarytokeep driver safety "a top priority."
"The city's potential, its passion for great culture and events, make Adelaide a perfect place for a first-class Grand Prix, in the style of a festival, which is the only chance to bring fans'experience to a new level, "MotoGP said in its press release.
