Donostiarra Arrieta Rodriguez , a sportsman with a scholarship from the Basque Team Foundation, has debuted at the Winter Games, finishing in 33rd place, with a timeof 1: 46.83, from Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin (1: 39.10) to 7.73.
Guipuzcoana, at 23, has become the first Basque skier to compete in the Winter Games since Ainhoa Ibarra 28 years ago, in 1998, at the Nagano Games. The Donostiarra declared days before the start of the test that her goal was to get among the top 20 skiers.
Rodriguez has marked a time of 1: 46.83 by accumulating the two descents. In the first, he has skied the Olympia delle Tofane track, at 1,735 meters high and 180 meters low, in 51 seconds and 19 hundredths, ending four seconds and six hundredths from the American Shiffrin.
