The Bidasoa stumbles in Madeira (40-32)
The Irundarra ensemble has fitted its first defeat of the season in Madeira, in a match that has been twisted from the first few minutes.
The Irudek Bidasoa lost 40-32 to the Maritimo de Madeira this Tuesday in Funchal onthe second day of the EHF European League. The Irundarra team entered cold and the Portuguese took advantage of it to take a distance. The local attack, with seven players and no goalkeeper, created constant problems for the Guipuzcoan defense and allowed the Maritimo to dominate the scoreboard from the first minutes, reaching the break with eight points.
In the second half things have not changed much for the Bidasoa. The locals have increased their advantage to ten goals. Thereaction has come from the hand of Xavier González in and Martín Duque, who have taken the lead in attack and managed to bring the Irundarrascloser, but the Portuguese have managed their advantage until the last moment.
The result puts an end tothe excellent start of the Bidasoa both in the Asobal League and in Europe. The final difference leaves the Guipuzcoan team with a -8 that can take on prominence in the team's resolution. The next European commitment of the Bidasoa will be against the now head of the ranks, the Limoges, on October 13.
