Athletic has defeated Elche, with two goals from the Guruzeta, and has three consecutive wins in Liga (2-1)

The Athletic Club has defeated the Elche, 2-1, in San Mamés on the 25th day of the EA Sports League 2025-2026, on Friday night. Gorka Guruzeta has scored the two goals of the Athletic Club in the 64th and 89 minutes, the latter of penalti ,and Andre Da Silva, also of penalti, has marked the 1-1 provisional.

In the first few minutes, the Athletic had a very good opportunity: the Elche failed to get the ball out, Ruiz de Galarreta stole it, and Sancet was hit, but the Navarro shot went over the long line.

In the 37th minute, Yuri recovered the ball very well and sent a deep pass to Iñaki Williams, who fired a good shot, but Dituro, the Elche goalkeeper himself, made a spectacular stop at the front of the Athletic Club.

The Basque team was still under pressure at the beginning of the second half. Dituro, once again, has made a good stop for Sancho, with Athletic getting the ball back; it seemed that the red-whites were not as comfortable as in the first half, but , in a counter-attack, Ruiz de Galarreta has opened to the left, Yuri has centered brilliantly and, very close, Guruzeta has thrown it into the nets.

Almost in a row, Sancet has narrowly failed to score 2-0, but in the next play, the Elche has tied the match. Iñigo Lekue has penalised Valera and scored Andre Da Silva, a goal that has been achieved in the second by the Elche player, who has twice touched the ball in the first. 

The midfielder of the Bilbao Athletic, Eder Garcia, has debuted immediately. In the next few minutes, both teams were trying, but they have not hurt each other, Izeta, in 82, has shot from the right. Ruiz de Galarreta has focused on the area and the leg of the Elche defense Pedro Bigas has hit Aymeric Laporte, the referee has pointed out the penalty, and Gorka has scored the second goal.

The 2-1 has been made by Athletic in the 89 minute and they have played another ten minutes, since it has been eight of the extension. The Biscayan team has not had much trouble maintaining the victory, so it has three consecutive wins in the League.
