Itxaso Uriarte leaves Athletic after five seasons on the team
The Vitorian midfielder has played 80 games on the Bilbao team, where he arrived from the Royal Society in 2021.
Athletic has announced that midfielder Itxaso Uriarte has left the Bilbao team, ending a five-season and 80-game cycle with the red-white T-shirt.
Uriarte, 34, arrived in Lezama fromthe Royal Society in the 2021-2022 season. After playing a leading role in the first three seasons, he has spent the last two almost full seasons unable to play due to a right knee injury.
The Vitorian player played his last official game in September 2024, on the first day of that season, when Athletic played against the Levante in Buñoland then went through the operating room twice to undergo a meniscus cut to undergo further joint interventions.
Uriarte will be honored in the derbi that will be played on Sunday between the Athletic Club and the Royal Society in Lezama at 12:00 onthe day 22 of the F Moeve League, and the match will be broadcast live through kirolakeitb.eus and ETB2 .
