Mexico beat South Africa 2-0 today with goals from Julian Quiñones and Raúl Jiménez in the first match of the 2026 World Cup. Mexicans dominated the match from start to finish. The referee expelled three players.
Quiñones and Jiménez reflected the superiority of the Mexicans on the scoreboard. Javier Aguirre's team played almost the entire second half with two more players after the referee showed the red card to two South African players.
