Messi leaves the Argentine team
Leo Messi announced on Monday that he is leaving the Argentine team, which the captain of the team has described as a painful decision, but which he feels is that he has given everything he can for his country.

Messi has explained that he wrote the letter announcing his decision on July 21, two days after the World Cup final lost to Spain, although he decided to wait before making it public, but has assured that after the death of his father, Jorge, on August 8, he is "more certain than before" of his decision.
The striker has played 207 games and 125 goals with Argentina. His relationship with the team was not always easy: he lost the 2007, 2015 and 2016 American Cup finals and suffered several disappointments in the World Cup. In 2021he won his first American Cup , the 2022 Qatar World Cup and 2024 another American Cup, becoming one of the greatest stars in the history of the Argentine team.
His last international adventure ended this summer, coinciding with his sixth World Cup. Messi led Argentina to the final and scored eight goals during the tournament, scoring 21 goals in the history of the World Cup.
