Pello Bilbao was fourth and Ion Izagirre sixth in the Eschborn-Frankfurt won by Zimmermann
German champion Georg Zimmermann (Lotto Intermarché) has prevailed in the 63rd edition of the Eschborn-Frankfurt race over 211.5 km. Second and third place have been for the British Tom Pidcock (Pinarello Q36.5) and Ben Tulett (Visma), respectively.
The stage has had an exciting ending and Zimmermann has been the fastest with a time of 4h.59.34, with an average speed of 42.3 km/h. Pidcock, Tulett, Pello Bilbao (Bahrain), Ion Izagirre (Cofidis ) and Adriá Pericas (UAE) have reached the same time.
The German classic has reached the last few miles with a 20-person getaway, including Ion Izagirre and Pello Bilbao.
The fugitives refused to join the platoon and, to avoid it, the Dane Michael Valgren made a change of pace two miles from the finish line. Then Pello Bilbao started the final sprint from afar.
In the end, the victory has been taken by Zimmermann, the fifth in the professional category, honoring the tricolor jersey and taking the witness of 2025 winner Michael Matthews.
