Van Aert wins the Paris-Roubaix by beating Tadej Pogacar in the sprint
The Belgian Wout van Aert (Visma) has won the 113th edition of the París-Roubaix by defeating Tadej Pogacar in the sprint; the "Hell of the North" has again escaped the Slovenian, the only "Monument" missing in his palmaris.
Wout Van Aert has won the 113 edition of the Paris-Roubaix after imposing himself on Tadej Pogacar intheexciting final sprint of the Andre-Petrieux velodromo.
The 31-year-old Belgian cyclist has broken molds and avoided two historic events : Pogacar 's fifth consecutive 'monument' (the only one left to win) and Mathieu van der Poel 's fourth consecutive Roubaix.
The race has started at a very high pace and has not generated a clear getaway. From the first sections of cobblestone, the favorites have taken the lead in a day with falls, punctures and breakdowns . Pogacarhas had a mechanical arazor that has had to chase for several kilometers, but has managed to hook up with the main team ahead of the decisive sectors.
Mathieu van der Poel has also had mechanical problems , which has caused him to lose contact with the head of the race. Bien while Van Aert and PogacaR have been selecting the team until the two runners are left alone after the Belgian attack more than 50 kilometers from the finish line.
