The Caja Rural has signed the Colombian Sergio Higuita for the next two seasons

The Colombian Sergio Higuita (Medellín, 1997) will be in the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA for the next two seasons. In the last season, the South American cyclist has qualifiedin the top-10of the Return to Switzerland  (9th place) and the UCI has accumulated about 500 points in the WorldTour races.

Divided into EF Education-EasyPost, Bora-hansgrohe and XDS-Astana, in his eight seasons in the highest category of cycling, Higuita has won stage wins in the Return to Spain (Becerril de la Sierra), the Tour de Romandia and the Vuelta, in addition to imposing himself in the overall ranking of the Volta to Catalunya 2022, in close competition with Richard Carapaz.

Havingjust turned 29 , Higuita has almost a decade of professional platoon experience and has participated in four editionsof the Tour de France and as many editions of the Vuelta .

"Right now the team is getting stronger, it's had a great year and it's going to play against the best of the World Tour without fear. I like it as a project and that convinced me to join the team, "said the Colombian cyclist.

"There is another special thing, which is that the color of the team is green and white, like that of the region where Antioch lives in Colombia, and I will carry it as if it were my flag, "he added.

"I have achieved my best results in a week of racing and a day of classic trials, goals that I want to re-establish and try to do epic things," he explained for next season.

"I'm very motivated, I want to do my best from the heart, "he added.
