The British Finlay Tarling died in the Portuguese Volta at the age of 19
The chain broadcasting the competition, the Portuguese channel RTP, has claimed that he died as a result of a frontal collision with a non-racing vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
The British cyclist Finlay Tarling cyclistofthe NSN Development Team died this Friday in an accident while participating in the eighth stage of the Portuguese Volta .
In a statement posted on the networks, officials have claimed that the 19-year-oldcyclist died "as a result of a serious accident." On the other hand, the Portuguese channel RTP , which was reporting the competition, has claimed to havecollidedhead-on with a vehicle driving in the opposite direction .
Due to the incident, the stage has been suspended about 20 kilometres to the end and, according to the organizers, "as a sign of respect and mourning, the podium ceremony will not take place".
