Albizuri goes back to a semi-final uphill and gets the pass to the final, defeating Laukariz
Albizuri, the winning team in the men's first semifinal.
Albizuri and Laukariz have played on the fronton of Etxebarri (Bizkaia) the first male semifinal of the fourth season of Harri Herri. Despite the bad start , Albizuri has managed to go back a playoff that has been very uphill and has dominated the decisive final test.
The team made up of Oskar Aguas, Jon Gisasola, Mikel Lopetegi and Alex Merlo has had a hard time winning, as the quartet led by Captain Luis Mari Telleria has started the semi-final very badly, since Alex Merlo, a 39-year-old Madrileño, has not been able to match the 175-pound rectangular stone .
His rival, the idiazabal Xabier Aranburu Guzta , has given seven lifts to the rectangle in two minutes. The veteran stone lifter has given the Laukariz a 56-second lead in the first test. In the second session, however, Albizu has begun to reduce that difference.
With a cylinderof the same weight, 27-year-old Mallabia Jon Gisasola (Albizuri) has made 13 lifts in just one minute and 29-year-old Xabat Olaizola (Laukariz) 10, so in the third test Albizuri has taken another 9 seconds to the Laukariz team for the final decisive test.
In the penultimate session, the last individual test, the berriozar Oskar Aguas has raised the ball of 100 kilos 21 in two minutes. His rival, the Zamudio Eneko Bilbao, 41 years old, has made 16 lifts. So, Albizuri has reduced the initial disadvantage of 56 seconds to 7 seconds.
In the last group test, Albizuri's stone-lifters have given 18 lifts to the 132-pound clumsy stone in 4:22 minutes. Moreover, Merlo has pulled out the thorn of the first work session and made four lifts with the stone. The opponents have made 14 lifts in 4:29 minutes.
Next week , Ulia and Ibiur will play the second women's semifinal.
