The Navarro striker has won a tough and exciting final against Jokin Altuna in the Nafarroa Arena.
Unai Laso has won the 4-and-a-half San Fermín Championship after beating Jokin Altuna 20-22 in the final. The 3,100 spectators who have been to the Navarra Arena have not only created a great atmosphere, but have also been able to watch one of the best games of the year, as the final has been very equal, hard and with many occasions.
From the first few it has been seen that the competition was going to be very much fought. From the beginning, the many have been long and many balls, the fruit of the good defenses of both pelotaris. Yes, after a bit and a turn tied, Unai Laso has been able to clear on the scoreboard with four points of advantage (4-8 and 5-9) and he has been in control until reaching the first almost forced break.
The Navarro was basing his whole game on the physicist, giving the ball a lot of power and making Jokin Altuna uneasy. The Amezketa, though at times rather uncomfortable, has never lost face to the game. Aspe's always has that, which is a capability to turn around impossible situations, and Laso seemed to run out of gasoline.
Before the first forced break, Altuna IIItook the lead on the scoreboard n to tie 11, but Laso arrived ahead of the break (11-12). He stopped and breathed well for the Navarro, who took a five-fold lead when they started playing again (11-16). However, he went down physically again and then he could see the best moment of Jokin Altuna.
The Amezketarra has not only tied the match, but has also achieved a rent of three in favour (20-17). Everything seemed decided, but Unai Laso has not said his last word and, after drawing strength from where nothing seemed to be left, has scored five points in a row to put the 20-22 and win the txapela.
