New York Knicks end 53 years of drought
The New York franchise defeated the San Antonio Spurs in a match that ended with a score of 90-94.
The New York Knicks won the fifthgame of the NBA finals, thus winningthe title for the first time in 53 years.
The match began with local dominance and led by Victor Wembanyama with a 16-point lead. The Knicks managed to reduce the difference on the scoreboard before the break, but in the third quarter the Spurs again increased their lead to 15 points.
In the last quarter, Jalen Brunsonmanaged to hurt the local defense, the top player in the finals was key to his team's victory, nor could Victor Wembanyama stop it. Mitchell Robinson 's contribution to the attack was also decisive in the outcome of the match.
When the match was over, the euphoria broke out in New York, where, after a long 53-year run, thousands of fans took to the streets, taking entire streets and stopping traffic in the city.
