Swedish pole jumper Armand Mondo Duplantis gave no room for surprise and won his fourth consecutive European championship at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham,United Kingdom, with a 6.15 metre mark.
Duplantis, 26, continues to magnify his myth as an unparalleled sportsman, who has long been competing only against himself and whose rivals, desperate, struggle to be on the podium knowing that victory is impossible if the Swede does not have a bad day or make a mistake.
The Swede has beaten the world record 15 times to 6.31 meters and won without much opposition in Birmingham with a modest 6.15 meter jump, as Duplantis is accustomed to watching his fans break records.
The silver has gone to theGreek Emmanouil Karalis with a jump of 6.00 m. Thus, Karalis repeats the second place he won in Rome two years ago. Since competing with Duplantis he is always a runner-up. Baptiste Thiery french has won the bronze medal witha mark of 5.85 m.
