Sabastian Sawe and Tigst Assefa break records in the London marathon
Kenyan Sabastian Sawe has broken theworld record of an official marathon by winning this Sunday in London, witha time of hour59 minutes and 30 seconds . Furthermore, the Ethiopian Tigst Assefa has broken the world record set by himself with a time of 2 hours, 15 minutes and 41 seconds.
In second place, theEthiopian Yomif Kejelcha has finished, with a time of 1:59:41, the record of his country and the best time in the debut of a marathon in history. Kiplimoof Uganda has finished third with a time of 2:00:28, the best record in his country.
On the other hand, the African athlete had the best universal record in a women's marathon, with a time of 2: 15.50 since April 27, 2025. He has beaten the Kenyans Hellen Obiri (2h15:53) and Joyciline Jepkosgei (2h15:55) in the finish line.
This is the fourth most prestigious marathon for him, having won twice in Berlin and twice in London.
