Basque golferJon Rahm spoke out this Tuesday against the DP World Tour European golf course, accusing them of "blackmailing" their players. Saudi of offering them a pact to settle fines for being members of the Arab league LIV in exchange for participating in more calendar tournaments.
According to Rahm, he asks them to compete in at least six trials, two of which were decided by the DP World Tour: "I don't like what they're doing with the contract they're making us sign today.
The conflict began with the creation of the Saudi league in 2022, as a result of which the DP World Tour fined players who went there for not participating in tournaments they played on the same date.
Rahm has been in the LIV league since 2024. He refused to pay the penalties and appealed. As he is awaiting sentencing, he was able to play the Ryder Cup last year, as his participation in the European team was a prerequisite for being part of the DP World Tour.
