The Royal Society was unable to add points to the Betis in the Cartuja, after losing 1-0, onthe second day of the 2026-2027 season, in the first match for theRoyal Society, on Friday night. Rodrigo Riquelme scored, in the 63rd minute ,the goal that gave the three points to the Andalusian team.
In the first official eleven of the season, Rino Matarazzo placed Alex Remiro under the sticks. The Cascante goalkeeper saw how, in the first minute, the Betis had created danger through a center of Antony.
Remiro stopped well a shot from Antony in the 23rd minute. In the 30th minute, in a quick counterattack, the Royal had a very good opportunity to score, but Orri Oskarsson failed, in front of Guardameta Valles. Bernal, in the 44th minute, threw outside, from the edge of the area, in a Betis play, and soon after the two teams went to rest, in the Cartuja, with the result 0-0.
Sergio Gómez and Aramburu, the two sides of the Basque team, have been admonished by the referee in the first minutes of the second half. Aramburu himself, in a good shot from outside the area, has received an answer from the Vallès. It seemed that the Royal Society was reaching the Betis area more easily than in the first half; Barrena has asked for the change and Matarazzo has also removed Kubo from the green area and Mikel Oyarzabal and Alex Marchal.
In the 63rd minute, ending a good attack move, Rodrigo Riquelm struck from within the area and Remiro was unable to avoid 1-0. Almost immediately, the Navarro doorman made a big stop, in front of Isco, on a very clear occasion that the Betis created to score his second goal.
In the 68th minute, Luka Sucic had the tie very close, but his shot went to the stick. In the final leg of the meeting , the Royal Society advanced in search of the draw; in the 83rd minute, Oyarzabal, within the area, gave a good pass to Oskarsson, and the striker stood alone in front of Alvaro Vallés, but the Betis goalkeeper stopped him very well.

Matarazzo: The players are ready; we expect moves in the coming weeks
The Royal Society has held its last training today. Tomorrow at 9 p.m. they will have a match against the Elche and Matarazzo will take 24 players, including five from the Sanse.
Carlos Soler: "Last year we were the most successful team, obviously we have to try to change something."
The Valencian midfielder believes that the Blue White team "must try to get less goals, that the defensive work of the team is better, because last year it was not."
